Powering Up and Powering Down Your Athena Range

Powering Up Your Athena Range

1.Plug in the Router and Access points first.
These units can take up to 5 minutes to initialize. In general these units do not need to be turned off, they are designed to run 24/7.

2.Plug in the Network Manager.
The Network Manager is a Linux server and can take 2 to 3 minutes to boot up and initialize. In general the Network Manager does not need to be turned off, it is designed to run 24/7.

3.Plug in the power cord connected to all of the EST Targets. Then, on each individual unit turn on the power switch. The power switch is the top most switch on the back of the NC models.
The NC Models take about 90 seconds to boot up and initialize.

4.Plug in the power cord connected to all of the EST Monitors. Then, on each individual unit turn on the power switch.
The DoW Models take about 60 seconds to boot up and initialize.

5.Turn on the MM100 units using the power switch. Then turn on the TVs they are attached to.
The MM Models take about 60 seconds to boot up and initialize.

6.Turn on your Windows machine running Orion, and then start the Orion software.

Powering Down Your Athena Range

It is important to turn off the operating system before powering down the EST Units. Failing to do so could damage your EST Unit's file system.

1.To shut the operating system down down for the EST Units, in Orion

a.From the menu bar, click on Athena -> Athena Unit Maintenance. This will open the Athena Maintenance window.

b.Click the "Select All" button. This will select all of your EST Units.

c.Click the "Shutdown" button. This will send a signal to each of the EST Units to begin the shut down sequence. This process is purposefully delayed 60s and can take up to 2 minutes to complete.
NOTE: This only shuts the operating system down, it does not turn off the power to the units.

2.Once the monitors screens turn off, it is safe to unplug the power.

a.Switch off the power from each NC model EST Target.

b.Switch off the power from each DoW model Monitor.

c.Switch off the power from each MM model Display.

3.Unplug the power cords connecting the EST Targets and Monitors.

4.Turn off the TVs connected to the MM model Displays.

5.The Network Manager, router, and access points may remain turned on. These generally do not need to be shut off.
If the Network Manager does need to be turned off:

a.Reopen the Athena Maintenance window, by clicking on Athena -> Athena Unit Maintenance.

b.Select the Network Manager, it will be the first item in the list and have a name similar to 001234-CORE-001.

c.Click the "Shutdown" button.
NOTE: this will both shut the operating system down and turn the power off.
