When paper targets are scanned, the thickness of the target paper around the bullet hole can cast a shadow. Left unchecked, this shadow can cause scoring errors. However, when using a supported Canon scanner Orion knows about the shadow and adjusts for it during the scoring process.
Shadows appear either at the top of the bullet hole, the bottom of the bullet hole, or for some scanners, none at all.

Setting Scanner Shadows for Non-Supported Scanners
If you are scanning targets with a non-supported scanner, you should adjust Orion's Scanner Shadow settings manually, according to the physical characteristics of your scanner.
To do so, from the menu bar, click on Tools -> Scanner Shadows.
