Temperature Warning is Displayed

In Orion's Range Control tab, a "Temperature Warning" will be displayed if the internal CPU temperature on the target exceeds 70 degrees C. This is a warning, and by itself, not an error. The CPUs on the targets are designed to exceed 85 degrees C. By holding your mouse over the Temperature Warning you may learn the actual temperature of the CPU.

It is not common for a NC model target to exceed a CPU temperature of 70 degrees. When it does, it is usually because either the heat sink fell off the CPU or the CPU fan has stopped running. Inspect both of these and repair as needed. Please note, some early versions of the NC100 and NC200 did not have CPU fans installed.

The CPU fan can be cleaned using canned (pressurized) air.

The ambient temperature of the range may also contribute.

Auto-Slowdown

When the CPU temperature starts to get to high, the NC targets automatically slows down the detection algorithm to help keep the CPU in a healthy state.
