Sending Relay Information to Athena
In an Orion match, when you are ready to start a new relay of athletes, the athlete's names and ids must be pushed to the firing points. To do so, select the relay in the "Athena Relay Select" drop down list. And then click on the "Send Relays to Targets" button next to it.
Start or Restart Relay achieves a few important steps:
•Configures the firing points for the match and course of fire.
•Sends athlete information to the firing points.
•Restarts the Range Control script.
•Configures the spectator Displays for the match, using the default Event Assignment files.
•Sets the Targets and Monitors into Competition mode, which limits the ability to control the firing point from the Monitor.
Update Current Relay is used strictly for the following:
•Resend athlete information to the firing points.
•Move or remove athletes on firing points.
Often, in a competition, there will be one or more empty firing points. An empty firing point is one where no athlete is squadded on. In fact, it is a best practice to have at least one empty firing point on each relay, such that if a target goes down the effected athlete can be moved to this empty firing point. When you push relay information to Athena you must decide what to do with the empty firing points. The options are:
•Include as Hospital Firing Point: Orion will control the firing point during the match, but no scores from the firing point will be imported into Orion. If a firing point goes down during the match, the effected athlete may be moved to one of the designated Hospital Firing Point. This is the default.
•Do Nothing: Orion will not send any information to the empty firing points. Nor will the empty firing points be controlled by Orion during the match.
•Send Air Rifle Practice: Orion will not control the firing point during the match. Instead, the Firing Point will be put into practice mode with the Air Rifle Informal Practice course of fire.
•Send Air Pistol Practice: Orion will not control the firing point during the match. Instead, the Firing Point will be put into practice mode with the Air Pistol Informal Practice course of fire.
•Send Smallbore Rifle Practice: Orion will not control the firing point during the match. Instead, the Firing Point will be put into practice mode with the Smallbore Rifle Informal Practice course of fire.
In order to send a relay to Athena, all EST Units should be at a compatible version. Orion will warn you before sending a relay if the EST Units are not at a compatible version. Doing so is NOT RECOMMENDED or supported. See Updating Athena's Software for more information.
At the bottom of the Send Relay From is a "Competition Reminders" box. These messages are part of the Routine Maintenance for an Athena range.
In the event that there are double assigned competitor numbers or firing points on the same relay, nothing will be pushed to the targets until the issue is rectified.
